Farida Fahmy, hugely popular with the international dance community and all who have been lucky enough to study with her, has a well deserved reputation as a pioneer and statesperson for Middle Eastern dance. Farida Fahmy is the co-founder of the Reda Troupe in Egypt and the star dancer for 25 years. The Reda Troupe was the first Egyptian dance company to record Egyptian folk songs and dances and perform them on stage and Farida has starred in two major musical films, regarded as milestones in Egyptian cinema. Farida has her own very uniquely graceful and elegant dance style that she teaches as well as trying to help non-Egyptians feel the rhythm of Oriental music and understand the art that lies in the movement from one part of the dance to the other. Farida Fahmy is a dancer and choreographer in both Oriental and Folkloric Egyptian dance styles and she has performed in over 50 countries, participated in many international Folk Festivals and given command performances for heads of states both in Egypt and abroad. She received Egypt's Order of Arts and Science of the first degree in 1967, The Star of Jordan in 1965 and the Order of Tunisia in 1973.
